Asike is back

PDF E-mail

Our defender Eugene Asike is back home safe and sound after spending a month out, in South Africa with Biudvest Wits.

The club expressed desire to sign the player but the conditions given to the player ahead of getting him on a permanent deal were not favourable and Sofapaka opted to have him back until the next South African top flight transfer window opens.
Confirming the development head coach David Ouma said Asike attended the Thursday morning training session but will not be available for the weekend clash as Sofapaka travels to Muhoroni to take on Muhoroni Youth.
“Eugene is back. He landed yesterday and attended our training today. He looks fine but will not be in our plans for the Muhoroni Youth game.
“I want to clarify that the deal with Wits was not good for the player and us but it is not a closed issue. They are still keeping tabs on him and when the next transfer period is opened we will revisit everything.
“They wanted to take him on loan to a third tier team but we felt he is way past that. He is already a national team player so that to us was a negative move”, Ouma said.
