Chairman clarifies on Opiyo injury

PDF E-mail

Club president Elly Kalekwa has noted that the knee injury to George Opiyo that pushed the club to sign goalkeeper Barnabas Tiema is not as pronounced as earlier reported.
Earlier reports had indicated that the keeper is set to be out for 12 months but the president says there was a mix – up in the team doctor’s report and the injury is set to keep him out for just two months and not 12 and the keeper is already in his first month of recovery.
“Reports that Opiyo will be out for 12 months are not true; that was a mix up in the report released by the doctor and the earlier statement is thus null. The injury will see him require two months to recover and he is already in his first month so I hope that is well directed now.
“I wish him quick recovery because it is always sad to see a good player like Opiyo sidelined due to injury”, he said.
