In the wake of reports that Kenyan international and Sofapaka midfield kingpin Humphrey Mieno is on the radar of South African giants Ajax Cape Town, the Sofapaka chairman Mr. Elly Kalekwa says he is ready to listen to their offer.

The midfielder caught the Ajax chairman John Comitis’ eye with his impressive performances in the first leg of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) especially in the game a

gainst Tusker FC on Monday 30 April which Comitis watched at the Nyayo National Stadium as Mieno helped Sofapaka beat the champions.

Kalekwa, though, admits that the approach from the South African giants has not been official and he adds that he will not be a stumbling block to a move if that would benefit the player’s career.

“Mieno is one of the best talents currently in the KPL so I was not surprised to learn of their interest. However, they haven’t made a formal bid. If they do and the offer is fine first for the player and then for the club we’d consider it”, he said.

Mieno’s performances in the first leg ensured he was named man of the match an impressive five times in nine games that were broadcast live.
